Bengaluru: Lokayukta officials on Thursday exposed a tender scam worth over Rs. seven crore in the award of contracts illegally by the Public Works Department.
Based on a complaint filed by city-based civil contractor B Shankar, a team raided the office situated in KR Circle and found procedural lapses and corruption while awarding contracts. The officials have confiscated 550 files. According to Lokayukta officials, the Executive Engineer and his assistants had invited three tenders last month for various works in Doddaballapura, Nelamangala and Devanahalli taluks.
The officials allegedly committed procedural lapses in the award of contracts, a senior officer said. Some PWD officials have been detained for questioning.
