Bangalore: The members of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike led by Narayan Gowda protested against Former Minister Umesh Katti who had raised the issue of separate statehood for North Karnataka. The protest was held in front of the BJP office on Wednesday 17th September.
The Karnataka Rakshana Vedike agitated and opposed the demand of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and MLA Umesh Katti to make North Karnataka a separate state and his claims that only then the region would realize the dream of development,
The members of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike made derogatory remarks against MLA Umesh Katti. They also procured a donkey and put offensive anti Umesh Katti slogans on it.
Earlier in the week, on Monday September 15, Katti raising the demand for separate state of North Karnataka said that this was a result of 30 years of political experience, “I am a Kannadiga and do not need preaching from people who cannot speak the language without using words from other languages.”
Belgaum was the biggest district in the State, but the Congress government cannot take a decision to split the district. “People like me are needed in power. The government should reconstitute the Border Advisory Committee with the Supreme Court appointing a commissioner to go into the petitions filed by Karnataka and Maharashtra regarding the boundary row. The Committee members are ignorant of the states borders,” Katti said.
