Bangalore: With the increase of racial violence in the city, a meeting was held between the Home Minister KJ George and the police department along with the northeastern Indian residents on Friday October 24.
Addressing the meeting at the police commissioner’s office, Home Minister KJ George stated that northeastern Indians in the city need not fear, because any person who attempts to create racial violence will be booked, arrested and stern action will be taken against them, he declared.
“A special team will be formed to help tackle the problems and solve the issues faced by the people from northeastern India. The team will be headed by senior police officers who will meet at least once in a month and discuss the prevailing problems,” the minister said.
A senior police officer, who attended the meeting, said, “The northeastern people should form an organisation in the areas where they live and give the police their personal details so that they solve their problem.”
The meeting was initiated and the decision was taken after the attack on Manipuri students at Kothanur, recently. The state police Chief Lalrokhuma Pachuau was also present during the meeting.
