Bangalore: A student of business management at a private college and an Ivory Coast national Ammar Qassam Alesaei alias Ammar Kureshi, a resident of Horamavu, was allegedly assaulted by two miscreants on Sunday night in a road rage incident in Banaswadi police station limits.
He subsequently complained to the police. According to his complaint, the incident occurred near a church in Ambedkar Colony near Kammanahalli at around 11.30 pm, when Ammar was on the way to his room.
Police sources say that Ammar and two other friends were riding triple on a bike recklessly in the area. When they were passing a tea shop, the trio stopped and a few men who were near the tea shop questioned them. Ammar and his friends were not able to understand the language. They got into an argument and after some time, resumed riding their bike again.
But apparently the three men chased them down and reportedly asked Ammar for a cigarette. Ammar used sign language to try and figure out what they wanted. The three men misunderstood his sign language and hit him in the face. Ammar and his two friends fled, but the trio followed him and slashed his right leg with a weapon. His cries for help brought the public running and the miscreants fled.
The jurisdictional Banaswadi police rushed to the spot and shifted him to a private hospital for treatment. Police said they had registered a case of assault and by evening caught five persons.
The arrested include Kiran Kumar Kenny, 23, a resident of Oil Mill Road, Banaswadi, Sunil, 25, from Kammanahalli, Vinay Bhat, Mahesh and Ganesh, all residents of Kammanahalli.
