Bangalore :Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has informed that the government has taken all possible measures to fill vacancies in the essential services departments like the Police, Health and Education Departments.
Responding to a query from MLC E Krishna in the Legislative Council,the Chief Minister said the problem has cropped up as the previous governments have failed to fill the vacancies. The MLC had questioned if the government can function in a transparent manner when there were so many vacancies,
The Chief Minister said the vacancies are being filled considering the demands and the availability of resources in the respective Departments. The government has already approved appointment to 9000 posts in Police Department and 16000 posts in the Education Department, he said.
There are a total of 55,6247 government employees in the state and 194080 posts are lying vacant, Siddaramaiah said and informed that a sum of Rs 34000 has been provided towards salary and other perks for government staff.
The CM at the same time clarified that the vacant posts have not hit hard the functioning of the departments and added unnecessary posts will be cancelled. A total of 7000 out of the 10,000 vacancies in Department of Agriculture have been cancelled, he said.
Siddaramaiah also said the vacancies are being filled as per the recommendations of the Haranahalli Ramaswamy panel report on administrative reforms.
