Bangalore : Finally the state government cracked the whip on officials, issuing new guidelines for digging borewells here on August 4.
The revised guidelines come in the wake of borewell tragedy that took place here in Sulekeri where a 6 year old boy is trapped inside the borewell.
HK Patil Minister of Panchayath Raj and Rural development directed that All private and govt dug borewells to be surveyed.
Action will be taken against private builders if borewells are found open.
Owners should close the unused borewell within 24 hours of digging and an NOC to be obtained by the local authorities before a borewell is dug.
The minister also suspended Sulikeri executive engineer and PDO for the tragedy.
