Bengaluru: Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala flagged off the 66th Republic Day celebrations by hoisting the tricolour and inspecting a guard of honour at the Field Marshal Manekshaw parade ground here on Monday, January 26.
After unfurling the national flag, he received salute from the armed forces, police, National Cadet Corps, Scouts and Guides, and hundreds of school children.
As many as 3,740 police personnel have been deployed to maintain law and order, with nine DCPs being instructed to supervise security operations. Watch towers have been put up across the parade grounds to monitor law and order, along with 36 CCTV cameras.
About 5,000 people gathered at the venue cheered the security forces and other participants.
