Girl molested at Wine festival, accused booked under Goonda act

Bangalore: Two persons are arrested for molesting a teenage girl who was a volunteer at Wine festival which was held in Bangalore on July 27.

The arrested are identified as Surendra(33), and Kiran(30) a residents of Doddaballapur.

The accused had come to the Wine festival and molested the girl when she was coming out of the toilet at the venue. However the girl managed to escape to the main venue.

Soon she filed a complaint at the JC Nagar police station and the police arrested the accused with the help of the victim. Bangalore commissioner M N Reddy said that they have been categorised as rowdies. Henceforth the police has directed that rowdy sheets be opened against all persons accused in rape or molest cases.

The two accused men are under a rowdy list which is a category reserved for dangerous anti-social elements after the state govt passed the Goonda Act. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (north) Sandeep Patil said that the JC Nagar police had opened a rowdy sheet against the two accused men.

One suspect identified as Ravi is absconding.
