FSL report proves negative in Bengaluru School rapes

Bengaluru: The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) reportedly stated that the tests conducted on the clothes of both victim and accused in the  sexual assault cases in Orchids – The International School and the Indiranagar Cambridge School are negative, as there was no trace of blood or semen on the clothes.

However these results alone cannot point out that there was no sexual assault and the police could establish the crime by other means including circumstantial evidences, said the police sources.

“The police had sent the clothes of the three-and-a-half-year-old victim and the accused Gundappa in connection with the case that had taken place in Orchids – The International School in Jalahalli on October 21 to the FSL.

We had also received clothes belonging to the six-year-old victim and her teacher Jaishankar, who allegedly sexually assaulted the girl in the Indiranagar Cambridge School in New Thippasandra on October 30.

In both cases, the experts tested the clothes and there was no trace of blood or semen on them and the test results were negative, FSL officials said,

In most cases report would be negative as the parents will not be able to recall what their child was wearing on the day of the assault or they might have unknowingly washed the clothes after the incident.

These factors act as a hindrance, thus forensic evidence alone, cannot be trusted,” the source said.

Sources say that though the results are negative, we cannot conclude that there was no sexual assault. If the report is negative, detailed investigation, eye witness, victims’ statements and few other evidences will help the police to prove that there was a sexual assault.
