Bangalore: A criminal case has been filed against the cops involved in the case of torture against a Cab driver on the basis of the report filed by Rohini Katoch, DCP (SE). Inspector CD Nagaraj and two constables from the Kempegowda Nagar station are the accused who are currently absconding.
The cab driver Pradeep from KG Nagar committed suicide on Saturday after being illegally detained and tortured by the cops on allegations that he had misbehaved with a tenant living on the first floor of the house.
The police illegally detained Pradeep for three days and assaulted him, according to the DCP’s report. When he was released, Pradeep, saying he was ashamed of the entire incident, committed suicide.
Commissioner MN Reddy has confirmed that the investigations have proven that the cops had abused their powers and had illegally detained and used force on him, and thus they have been suspended and a criminal case has been initiated against them based on the report.
