Bengaluru: Succumbing to public pressure CM Siddaramaiah, today announced the state cabinet’s decision to hand over the DK Ravi mysterious death case to CBI in the state assembly.
While anouncing this decision during a brief speech in the assembly, the CM said that while the CID has worked sincerely in the investigation and will come up with an accurate finding, he compared the two investigation bodies, saying that like the CID is under the state governement, the CBI is under the central government.
This does not take away from their capacity to independently come to a conclusion based on their investigations and he has full faith in them. However, he added that he had decided to hand over the investigation to the CBI on the basis of requests of the family, and demands of the public and opposition.
CM also said that he decided not to place the CID interim report in the assembly in deference to the High Court stay order in the matter. He said the government has no intention to protect anyone and truth will come out.
Earlier, the opposition created chaos in the assembly blaming the government for a week long delay to hand over the case to CBI.
DK Ravi’s family and opposition wanted the case to be handed over to CBI.
It is learnt that the Chennai unit of CBI will be investigating the DK Ravi’s death case. It specializes in murder and unnatural death investigation.
