Bengaluru: The CCB police have arrested Bordoloi alias Shibigiri(27), a bodo militant belonging to National Democratic Front of Bodoland(NDFB) here on Monday. NDFB is an banned outift from Assam.

A resident of Topatolli village, Kamrup district in Khetri police station limits, he was arrested from a building in Electronics City where he was hiding, a senior CCB officer said.

This is the second arrest of a member of NDFB in the City after a team of West Division police had nabbed NDFB commander Birkhang Basumatary, 24, a resident of Tukrajar in Chirang district on January 23 from a guest house in Cottonpet.

The City police received definite inputs from their Assam counterparts about an NDFB militant holed up in a building in Bengaluru.

A team was formed to nab the militant. The police collected more information from Central agencies and National Investigative Agency and raided the building on Monday. The police have not so far recovered any arms from him. Bordoloi is being interrogated by the CCB to ascertain whether he was in possession of any weapons, said a CCB senior police officer.

Bordoloi played a dominant role in the large-scale violence that had broke out in different parts of Assam. He was responsible for the massacre of several innocent people there. He secretly organised NDFB activities and recruited a large number of youths, besides plotting several violent episodes. He was one of the top militants wanted by the Assam police, the police said.

Bordoloi is in operating sophisticated weapons. He went to Bangladesh for training in a number of modern weapons. He was specially trained in operating AK series weapons, said the police.

The police will question him about his activities in the City. “We want to know if he was planning to lure people from Assam in Bengaluru to join NDFB. We will also question the owner of the building where he was hiding,” the officer added.

“We are questioning him in Electronics City police station. We are also in touch with the National Investigation Agency and Assam Police. We will hand him over to the custody of Assam police on Tuesday,” the officer said.

Bengaluru City is turning out to be a hub for militants from the North-East. The City has witnessed the arrests of a few militants from the region in the past.
