Bengaluru: The police have made a breakthrough in the Bengaluru blast, which claimed the life of a woman on Thursday. According to the highly placed reports, the police have nabbed two prime suspects reportedly from Bhatkal.
The police also suspect that they may have ‘close connections’ with the banned Indian Mujahideen (IM), as the founders – Yasin Bhatkal and Riyaz Bhatkal – hailed from Bhatkal.
Earlier, five members of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), who escaped from a Madhya Pradesh prison in October 2013, were allegedly suspected as culprits.
Besides, pictures of Shaikh Mehboob (25), Amjad (25), Mohammed Aslam (26), Mohammed Aijajuddin (30) and Zakir Hussain (32) were circulated between agencies and the police, indicating that the five were under the scanner. In addition to it, the investigating agencies had examined call records and internet use by the fugitives for leads. However, the police did not confirm their involvement neither is it sure whether the two arrested are from the SIMI group.
The earlier reported pointed out that the five had stayed in rented houses in Karnataka’s Dharwad, Yadgir and Hospet using fake identities between December 2013 and September 2014.
