Bangalore: “After the public protests over the increase, we hoped that the authorities would rollback the hike,” a BMTC official said. “Now it is close to three months and there is no sign of a rollback. Since the increased toll is a huge financial burden on our operation, we have increased the fare by a marginal Rs 5 on all Vayu Vajra Volvo bus routes.”
The official said 66 buses operate from various points — including Electronics City, Kudlu Gate and JP Nagar — in the city limits to KIA. BMTC operates 240 trips per day. Kumar Pushkar, director (IT and finance), BMTC, said, “We had to transfer the burden to the passenger, but we only made a marginal increase.”
