Bengaluru: After Sugumar, a former corporator and others had moved the High Court challenging the wardwise reservation drawn up by the State government for the BBMP polls which has now gone into cold storage, following the order of the
Division Bench and the trifucation bill being referred to a select committee in the legislative council of the state.
The basis of the petition by Sugumar and othersw was that population had not been considered while determining reservation for some wards while there was repetition of the quota in case of some other wards.
The State government on Monday told the High Court that it has withdrawn the wardwise reservation for the Palike polls and that it will come up with a new one.
The government linked the withdrawal the the orders of the Division bench in the polls case, and submitted that in view of the order of the division bench on Palike polls, the list had been withdrawn and a new one would be prepared. Justice Raghavendra H Chauhan disposed of the petition.
