Bengaluru: A software engineer from Manipur in Ashok Nagar was assaulted by three unidentified men recently.

The victim, who has been identified as Chingmi Jojo, 24, a native of Manipur and a resident of Austin town suffered injuries on his right eye. Jojo moved to the City eight years ago after he secured job in a reputed IT firm, said the police.

Jojo stays with his friends in Austin Town. Jojo and his friend Thot Jojo had gone out for dinner on Saturday night. While they were returning home late in the night, three men accosted them without any provocation. Chingmi objected and asked them to move away.

The trio punched Chingmi in the face repeatedly and fled, said the police. Jojo and his friends called the police, but they were reluctant to file a complaint the same night.

The police dropped them at their house as they were drunk. Jojo was treated at a nearby private hospital for bruises, said the police.

They turned up at the police station on Sunday and filed a complaint. The police registered cases under IPC Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt)  and 341 (wrongful restraint) against the unknown men and launched a search operation, said the police.
