The recently held South India Queen 2015 beauty pageant, one of the most glamorous pageants in the state, attracted many young talents.

One of the contestants and Winner South India Queen Miss Beautiful Eyes 2015, Seema Buthello interacted and shared her experience of the pageant, the glamour industry and its challenges with  Newskarnataka.com.

Seema hails from Kundapura and is not a full-time model, though  the new year has been great for her, as she has added three beauty pageant awards to her kitty. These are:

-First runner-up South India Queen 2015
-First runner-up Karnataka Queen 2015
-Winner South India Queen Miss Beautiful Eyes 2015

“Models work in a variety of conditions”

The shine behind the glamour industry is absolutely different from what we perceive! Is it really a long-term successful profession for models and girls?

“Most models work part-time and have unpredictable work schedules. Many also experience periods of unemployment,” says the beautiful Seema Buthello.

Explaining the working conditions of models, she says that models work in a variety of conditions, from comfortable indoor studios to runway fashion shows as well as outdoors in all weather conditions.

This beauty pageant runner-up also works as a product manager in an IT firm and meanwhile she pursues her modelling assignments as well.

She adds, “Employment of models is projected to grow 15 percent from 2012 to 2022, faster than the average of all occupations”.

“I take up modelling as a part-time hobby and remain focused in my full-time profession. Likewise, primarily youngsters should look after their studies/vocation, and as a secondary profession, they can chase their dreams on the ramp. As the glamour world is unpredictable, better not make it a full-time job,” she said.

The South India Queen 2015 (SIQ) pageant

South India Queen 2015 was hosted by Sankey Events, Rohini Fashions Gallery and NIMS Productions in the fashion capital of South India, Bengaluru, also the state’s capital. A  total 25 finalists  from the five states across the South India—Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu vied for the crown. Seema ended up as first Runner up.

Seema says that her experience during the pageant was wholesome and dignified. Each one of the finalists was unique in their own way so there was nothing to compete with each other.

Moreover, she said that they were always given tasks to serve the society by visiting orphanages, Rehab Centre, which had women affected by human trafficking etc., “and we were judged on our individual capabilities to inspire others’ lives”.

Beauty was one of the criteria, but not the most important parameter to win the contest. SIQ 2015 was much more focused on bringing out the inner beauty of the soul.

Career goal

Seema said that that she would keep on modelling as it was her passion, but would also work for various social causes while focussing on her professional career in IT.

In fact on April 12th she would be in Chennai for the Pinkathon.

Moreover, she is keen to work in movies without impacting her work in IT. Also, she is getting plenty of projects in TV serials, movies and fashion shows which she said she will pursue selectively.
