Kolar: The Karnataka government has revived an old proposal to treat waste water of Bengaluru and fill parched tanks in arid Kolar and Chikkaballapur districts. Lanco Toll plaza has been posing obstacles in way or the other to the prestigious K C valley project as the pipelines meant for supplying treated water is close to the highway and toll plaza.
Enraged people form Kolar district assembled near Ramasandra village and ensured resumption of works on the project.
Elected representatives and leaders from various Kannada organizations joined the stir in support the people.
The State Cabinet, on July 19 had approved three major sewage treatment plants (STPs) at a cost of Rs 1,662 crore. The treated water from these STPs – over six million litres per day (MLD) – will be used to fill tanks in the parched Bengaluru Rural, Chickballapur and Kolar districts.
